Hi... I'm considering buying a 1985 Perris Pacer. It looks a lot like a 13' Casita. The Perris Valley Trailer Company made it and, as far as I can tell, has gone out of business. I'm wondering if anyone knows if Casita bought the company?

By the way, I'm doing a book on trailers. One of the chapters will be on Vintage and Classic trailers (like Airstreams and Spartans) But other trailers will also be included. There will also be a chapter on old trailer parks and an extensive history of trailers.

Thanks Doug Keister

Perris Valley Campers, San Jacito, CA, built the 13 foot Pacer from 1980 till 1990. Perris was in business from 1976 till 1990.

No, Casita did not buy Perris. Two brothers started Casita/Scamp in Backus, MN. The brothers argued, as brothers often do. The Scamp brother wanted to build a fiberglass shell on a resin-coated plywood floor ... and stayed in Backus. The Casita brother wanted to build a solid fiberglass egg (like the kids plastic Easter egg) ... and moved his operations to Texas.

Might check whether Burro picked up an of Perris's manufacturing equipment ... but folks are having a hard time contacting anybody at Burro these days.
