Toyota Releases the New Redesigned 2016 Tacoma

With increased pressure on sales by the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon mid-size pickups, Toyota has redesigned their Tacoma truck for 2016.  The new 2016 Toyota Tacoma will be arriving at dealerships this month.  Toyota teased the new truck with the following release earlier in the year:

Raising the bar. Again.

Toyota’s legacy of off-road adventures continues with the all-new 2016 Tacoma. Tacoma SR’s bold front end and chiseled styling are ready to work, and its standard GoPro® mount helps capture all the action when it’s time to play hard. Tacoma SR5 is the fearless icon built to dominate, with an available all-new V6 engine, plus features like keyless entry, a colorful 4.2-in. information display and projector-beam headlights. The athletic Tacoma TRD Sport gets extra tech and style with Qi wireless charging,8 Smart Key System9 with Push Button Start, and an aggressive hood scoop. Tacoma TRD Off-Road amps up the toughness with standard Crawl Control10 and Multi-terrain Select. And Tacoma Limited adds refinement to the ruggedness with embossed leather trim, a moonroof and a Blind Spot Monitor11 with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.12 Get ready for epic off-road fun. Let’s go places.

They are including a new 3.5-liter V-6 replaces the old 4.0, but it has adopted Toyota’s D-4S port- and direct-injection system.  Although horse-power has not been officially released, the speculation is putting it at 40- to 50-horsepower more than the 236-hp V-6.  This extra horse-power will make it a great option for Casita Travel Trailer owners who will be looking to tow their trailer with a mid-size truck.

We will update this report with pricing and specs when they are officially released.
